Viacom.Tech in Warsaw plays a crucial role in Viacom`s global engineering organization. We build highly efficient, advanced systems which are used by millions of users all over the world. Currently, we are looking for a rock solid Agile Team Coach. The Agile Team Coach at Viacom works with both employees and teams in product, engineering, development, and design groups, by advising on best practices in various disciplines (e.g., Agile, team effectiveness, business deliverables) and removing impediments to success. The Coach fosters an environment with continuous development and efficient delivery of outstanding products and code.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor individuals and teams to discover and implement improved ways of collaborating and developing into high-performing, self-organizing, Agile units
  • Provide balance of guidance where teams greatly benefit and take ownership of best practices, but are not dependent on the Coach
  • Drive adoption of Agile best practices in teams, in cooperation with leadership
  • Proactively pinpoint and work with teams to remove areas of inefficiencies and waste
  • Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint demos
  • Perform ongoing assessment of team and organizational Agile maturity, while coaching towards higher levels of advancement
  • Use and recommend various tools to advance the Agile practices in the organization
  • Advise the Viacom leadership team of best practices and communicate updates
  • Frequently interact with a diverse group of executives, release managers, technology, and business sponsors

Your profile:

  • 5+ years of experience working in an Agile environment, in a variety of situations and 3+ years coaching, mentoring, and training as a Coach, Scrum Master, or Product Owner in a well-established, high-performing Agile software development environment with at least some dedicated teams
  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience combined with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Superior knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, other Agile frameworks and software engineering practices, as well as traditional project management approaches
  • Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Professional
  • Innate drive to increase one’s own growth and that of others
  • Superb written and verbal English language skills and presentation skills
  • Skills in prioritizing and ability to accommodate various point of views

Nice to have:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner
  • Experience in Media Technologies including: mobile applications, video delivery, ad delivery, streaming live events, and how they all integrate into existing technologies
  • Experience in working with and managing cross-functional resources and vendors
  • Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) and/or continuous integration (CI)

We need someone with at least four years of experience who will be a servant leader that enables a team(s) to drive features forward, while also focusing on dependency management at the team level for 1-3 teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides coaching around Agile frameworks and best practices for feature/project delivery, utilizing traditional project management approaches when needed
  • Facilitates and/or supports Agile framework ceremonies for Agile teams
  • Responsible for teaching and enforcing the values and principles of Agile, while promoting self-organization and constantly improving our standards of work
  • Identifies, tracks, and removes impediments for feature/project and team success
  • Facilitates the creation of a well-defined product backlog
  • Ensures planning of go-live and deployment activities and facilitate their execution
  • Ensures that all team members understand and accept their roles and responsibilities
  • Assists with resource allocation and effective capacity planning for team to determine what team can take on in any given sprint
  • Monitors sprint velocity and works with team to determine how they can continue to improve on velocity and recognize additional efficiencies as they mature
  • Tracks and reports key project metrics, informing stakeholders as appropriate
  • Manages feature/project delivery with respect to capital budgets
  • Manages relationships with all invested parties, including (but not limited to): Product, Engineering, Brands/Audiences, and/or other key stakeholders
  • Arbitrates and resolves conflict within the team
  • Coordinates participation of different tech and business groups in requirements gathering, specifications, design, development and implementation of key projects
  • Shields the team from outside “noise” or distractions that prohibit them from being successful
  • Learns, understands, and actively uses project management & ticket tracking software to effectively manage the team’s backlog and sprint-committed items

Your profile:

  • 4+ years in Agile project management in a well-established, high-performing Agile software development environment with at least some dedicated teams
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum and other Agile frameworks and software engineering practices, as well as traditional project management approaches
  • Ability to understand technologies applicable to assigned product or service area and facilitate resolution of technical needs as they arise
  • Comfortable leading business and technology in vetting technical options
  • Superb written and verbal communications, presentation skills, and meeting facilitation skills (including with an executive audience)
  • Fluent English

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or other Agile certifications are very strongly desired
  • Experience driving initiatives within a media company and/or in an online consumer-facing business environment preferred
  • Ability to influence and motivate people to high levels of performance and teamwork
  • Demonstrated working partnership with engineers (including QA), technical and business management, department heads, and product managers
  • Strong knowledge and passion about Agile principles and practices
